Dr Miguel Remondes (Instituto de Medicina Molecular, Portugal)
Local to our meeting held in Faro, Portugal, Dr Remondes specialises in circuits and systems neuroscience with a focus on the mechanisms and pathways involved in memory-driven behaviours. His research encompasses a variety of techniques including but not limited to: animal behaviour, electrophysiology, and micromechanics. He is keen to not only share his research with our attendees but also to discuss how to best establish a career in science.

Dr Adrian Peyrache (McGill University, Canada)
Dr Peyrache’s research focuses on understanding the cognitive processes that we use to navigate the environment. To do so, he combines rodent and human studies together with experimental and computational models of the brain. Via this translational approach, he aims to unravel the relationship between cognitive processes and neuronal dynamics. His passion for increasing open source neuroscience will inspire our participants.

Dr Ana P. Pinheiro (University of Lisbon, Portugal)
Dr. Pinheiro’s research focuses on the study of the neural and functional mechanisms underpinning voice and speech perception and its interactions with emotion. Within this context, she is particularly interested in how changes to these mechanisms lead to auditory verbal hallucinations (AVH), and how abnormalities in cerebellar structure and function may contribute to the erratic prediction of the sensory consequences of voice production in AVH.

Dr Joana Cabral (Minho University, Portugal)
Dr Cabral completed the Integrated Master in Biomedical Engineering in 2007 by Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Portugal and a PhD in Theoretical and Computational Neuroscience in 2012 by the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Spain. After a postdoc at the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Oxford, UK, she is currently Auxiliary Researcher at the Life and Health Sciences Research Institute, University of Minho, in Portugal. Joana published over 50 articles in international journals, and presented her work in more than 30 international events, including 5 keynote lectures. Joana has received the 2019 L’Oréal Award for Women in Science Portugal. Her field of research involves Medical Engineering, with emphasis in Computational Modeling and Neuroimaging for Psychophysiology and Psychopathology research.
