Eilís Dowd (IE), Chair of the Communication Committee
Eilís Dowd is a Professor in Pharmacology at National University of Ireland (NUI), Galway. After taking her PhD in Pharmacology at the University of Edinburgh, and completing post-doctoral research at the University of Cambridge, McGill University and Cardiff University, Eilís returned home to a Lectureship in Pharmacology at NUI Galway in 2005. In the University, Eilís balances her role as a pharmacology educator to undergraduate and postgraduate science and medical students, with her leadership of an active and dynamic Parkinson’s disease research team. Over the years, her research has been funded by the Wellcome Trust, the Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, the European Union, Science Foundation Ireland, the Health Research Board and the Irish Research Council. Eilís has served as President of Neuroscience Ireland, Ireland’s National Neuroscience Society, and President of NECTAR, the Network for European CNS Transplantation & Repair, while she currently sits on both the Executive Committee and the Governing Council of FENS. She is also Associate Editor of Neuronal Signaling, Section Editor of the European Journal of Neuroscience, and Editorial Board member at the British Journal of Pharmacology.
Rahul Gaurav (FR), Paris Brain Institute – speaker
Rahul Gaurav is a Neuroimaging Scientist with around a decade of research experience in France. He works with the Movement Investigations and Therapeutics (MOV’IT) team and Center for NeuroImaging Research (CENIR) team at the Paris Brain Institute (ICM). He is an Electrical and Electronics Engineer who went on to earn his PhD in Clinical Neuroscience using Neuroimaging and Artificial Intelligence from the Doctoral School of Brain, Behavior and Cognition (ED3C) of Sorbonne University, France. His research interest is mainly focused on structural brain changes in patients with Parkinson’s Disease and REM Sleep Behavior Disorder (RBD) using MRI and Deep Learning tools. Rahul is an active member of the Organization of Human Brain Mapping (OHBM), International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM), and a regular contributor to the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society (MDS). He also serves as a Social Media and Communications Manager of OHBM special interest group.
Violetta Zujovic (FR), Paris Brain Institute – speaker
Violetta Zujovic is a researcher at INSERM and the co-head of MY PLANET LAB (Myelin plasticity and regeneration) at the Paris Brain Institute. She is the scientific director of the data analysis core and the coordinator of the gender equity committee. Her research interest revolves around the role of immune cells in neurological diseases using multimodal approaches covering both multiomics data, functional assays and humanized models of diseases.
