Professor Paul Bolam (University of Oxford) and Professor John Foxe (Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York), new Editors-in-Chief of the European Journal of Neuroscience (EJN), gives their welcome message to EJN readers, as they started their appointment on 1st of January 2015.

Taking over the Edititorial leadership from Professor Jean-Marc Fritschy (University of Zurich) and Professor Martin Sarter (University of Michigan), the new Editors in Chief formally started their appointment on January 1st. 2015. 

The new Editors in Chief started to focus on ensuring a smooth transition of the editorial responsibilities for EJN. Under their leadership, and in collaboration with Wiley, the EJN editorial board has managed the continuing process of adapting and improving the editorial routines and the quality of the journal content to reflect the needs of today’s neuroscientists. 

With this welcome message, Professor Bolama and Professor Foxe look back on the remarkable history of EJN and give an overview of their objectives as new Editors in Chief.
