The Instituto de Neurociencias at Alicante appointed Centre of Excellence by the Spanish Government.
This year, the Instituto de Neurociencias at Alicante, a joint centre of the Spanish Research Council (CSIC) and the University Miguel Hernandez (UMH) has received one of just five such appointments. The program has been evaluated by an international panel of experts, granting this neuroscience centre 1 Million € per year plus a number of fellowships and studentships over the next 4 years, renewable after evaluation. This will allow the Institute to train and support a new generation of researchers and to drive forward its vision of being one of the leading centres for neuroscience research in Europe. The Instituto de Neurociencias is one of 18 Severo Ochoa research centres across all disciplines in Spain, but the only one in neuroscience.
