The Brain Prize Master Class on Translational Neuroscience

The Brain Prize Master Class is a high-level small audience meeting where twenty talented European junior neuroscientists have the opportunity to present and discuss their work with a Brain Prize winner and select senior scientists.

The overriding aim and ambition of the master class is to maintain a focus on the highest degree of scientific excellence and to nurture the best of the best European junior scientists with a focus on translational aspects of neuroscience.

The Brain Prize winner leading the 2016 master class is Trevor W. Robbins, United Kingdom; Head of the Department of Psychology, University of Cambridge; Professor of Cognitive Neuroscience and Experimental Psychology, University of Cambridge; Angharad Dodds John Fellow in Mental Health and Neuropsychiatry, Downing College, Cambridge; Director, University of Cambridge Behavioural and Neuroscience Institute (MRC and Wellcome Trust).

Programme committee and chairs
Programme committee members for 2016 are Mark West (The Brain Prize) and Gitte Moos Knudsen (ECNP).
The two co-chairs that will run the master class are Trevor Robins (The Brain Prize) and Joseph Zohar (ECNP).

Target group
Participation in the master class is restrictive. A person should have received an invitation to apply from either ECNP or The Brain Prize in order to be considered for review.

All potential candidates should match the following criteria for junior scientist:
* Not older than 40 years (on the first day of the meeting)
* Must be resident in Europe (Europe being the 47 countries of the Council of Europe plus Israel and Belarus)
* Pre-doctoral or doctoral student or Post-doc (within first four years of employment after having received their PhD) or Resident (MD’s in training within first five years after becoming MD)

Review and selection
All applications will be evaluated and 20 participants will be selected by the Brain Prize Outreach Committee, the programme committee and the chairs. Participants are selected based upon merit and scientific potential.
