Obituary for Rainer (Ray) W. Guillery (28 August 1929–7 April 2017)

Ray Guillery, the founding Editor-in-Chief of the European Journal of Neuroscience, was a major figure in the field of neuroscience. His research output represents a highly productive and influential body of work, profoundly advancing our understanding of the related fields of development and thalamocortical functioning. He was also a cherished colleague and role model for his many former students and friends in the field. This obituary pays tribute to his wide-reaching influence and lasting legacy.
