FENS is looking for an Editor in Chief for the European Journal of Neuroscience (EJN)

The Federation of the European Neuroscience Societies (FENS) is the voice of European neuroscience. With forty-two neuroscience member societies across 32 European Countries, FENS as an organization represents more than 20.000 European neuroscientists with a clear mission to advance European neuroscience education and research.

EJN has a dedicated Editorial board composed of active expert neuroscientists who are internationally recognized in their field. The editorial operations are supported by professional staff based in Europe.

To succeed the current co-editors in chief, Jean-Marc Fritschy and Martin Sarter, FENS seeks applications from senior Neuroscientists interested in further developing EJN as a highly visible and successful international journal. Candidates should be leaders in their field and have a broad scientific expertise as well as editorial experience in a multidisciplinary journal. Further assets include: awareness of emerging trends in the publication industry; documented management experience; diplomacy and excellent social skills; ability to motivate contributors, reviewers, and the editorial board; and desire to provide authors with the best possible service and editorial guidance.

EJN is editorially independent and reports annually to the FENS Governing Council. The publisher, Wiley, provides support for the on-line presence of EJN and all publication-related technical, legal and ethical issues. The EiC will get financial compensation for his/her time; in addition there are means to support the editorial office and management tasks.

The EiC will take office on January 1^st 2015 for a 3-years term, with the option to renew. We expect the new EiC to be available as of October 1^st 2014, to ensure a smooth transition from the current EiCs. After a first selection step, candidates will be invited for an interview in Brussels between April 7 and 9.
