The Hertie-Foundation (Germany) is pleased to announce in cooperation with the Federation of European Neuroscience Societies (FENS) the opening of nominations for the Eric Kandel Young Neuroscientists Prize 2011.
The prize was established by the Hertie-Foundation in 2009 to recognize outstanding work in any field of neuroscience. The prize is € 50,000.00 for personal use and up to € 25,000.00 for additional training and mentoring by a leading expert in the field. The mentoring expert will be chosen by the
awardee in cooperation with the Hertie-Foundation.
Eligible are European neuroscientists under the age of 40, who have demonstrated outstanding scientific creativity and productivity, as documented by multiple publications in leading scientific journals.
Candidates must be nominated by their University/research institution or by an internationally recognized neuroscientist. Self-nomination is not possible.
Nominations must include the following documentation: 1) a letter of recommendation (not exceeding two written pages), 2) a curriculum vitae of the candidate including 3) a publication list, 4) up to three key publications in PDF format, 5) a cover letter from the nominee stating what he/she expects to gain from the mentoring process (including proposals for mentors). The deadline for nomination is 1st November 2010. Nominations must be sent via Email to the address below. The successful candidate will be selected by an international jury of leading neuroscientists. The prize will be awarded in the first half of 2011.
