Fundamentals of Non-Invasive Brain Stimulation Techniques and Clinical Perspective

Ottawa, CA

Attendance type(s): In Person

Event Dates: 18—19 May 2020

Run in collaboration with leading academic and industry neuroscientists, including Dr Sara Tremblay (University of Ottawa), Professor Jean-Francois Lepage (Université de Sherbrooke), Professor Hugo Théoret (Université de Montreal), Dr Jeff Daskalakis (CAMH), and Dr Roch Comeau (Rogue Research), the workshop programme will explore:

The basic principles and history of transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS);
The physiology of TMS of the motor cortex;
An examination of common TMS measurements – motor threshold, motor evoked potentials (MEPs), and paired-pulse measurements – through a mixture of demonstration sessions and hands-on experiences;
Identifying stimulation sites using neuronavigation techniques;
Designing a TMS study from the ground up, including safety and ethical considerations;
Introductions to basic repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation paradigms, from standard rTMS protocols to theta burst stimulation;
And discussions of clinical applications of rTMS in psychiatry and neurology.
