EJN Call for Papers: Local circuits to large-scale networks in the sleeping brain

Organiser: European Journal of Neuroscience (EJN)

Event Dates: 31 May 2022

Registration Deadline: 31 May 2022

The European Journal of Neuroscience (EJN) is pleased to announce the Call for Papers for a new Special Issue: “Local circuits to large-scale networks in the sleeping brain”.

Guest Editors: Antoine Adamantidis (University of Bern, Switzerland), Lucia Talamini (University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands), Genevieve Albouy (University of Utah, USA), Adrien Peyrache (McGill University, Canada)

Despite the fact that states of sleep are universally described throughout the animal kingdom, our understanding of their relevance to brain function and dysfunction remains limited. The last decades have seen important technological advances that have extended the repertoire of experimental designs available to tackle questions such as: Why do we sleep? What are the functions of sleep? Why doesn’t our brain sleep when we are resting?

This special issue aims to showcase and advance the current understanding of sleep, spanning local circuits to large-scale levels of organisation.
