Lab description
Walking or grabbing a cup of coffee, simple yet sophisticated actions, highlight the complexity of the mammalian motor system. Movement, a vital behavior and the brain's sole physical output, is profoundly impacted by spinal cord injury (SCI), leading to paralysis and spasticity.
My research blends molecular and systems neuroscience to understand how the nervous system controls movement and the changes causing spasticity and paralysis after SCI. Through advanced behavioral profiling, genetics, optogenetics, electrophysiology, and anatomical analysis, we aim to bridge the gap between understanding neural circuits and creating effective SCI recovery therapies."
