The Instituto de Neurociencias is a joint research institute of the Universidad Miguel Hernández (UMH) and the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC). The Institute is structured into three departments: Developmental Neurobiology, Molecular Neurobiology, and Cellular and Systems Neurobiology, each of which encompasses a range of research lines.
In 2014, the Instituto de Neurociencias was recognized by an international evaluation panel within the framework of the Severo Ochoa Excellence Program. Its subsequent renewals in 2017 and 2021 have enabled the Institute to develop an ambitious, multidisciplinary research program. This distinction acknowledges the Instituto de Neurociencias as the leading brain research institute in Spain.
Objectives
The postgraduate training program combines a theoretical and practical approach to the diverse methodologies used in the study of the nervous system. It is designed to foster students’ initiative and abilities, guiding the development of their scientific careers.
The PhD program in Neurosciences has long served as a key driver of the Institute’s internationalization, with approximately 30% of its students coming from abroad.
