Description:

INTEGRATED MASTER & PHD TRAINING IN NEUROSCIENCES

Career Tailored Education

How does the brain work? Addressing this most fascinating question of modern life sciences is the goal of the Graduate School of Systemic Neurosciences at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich, offering a modern interdisciplinary training program with international tuition-free MSc, PhD, and Fast-Track PhD courses of study.

Teaching Concept

The members of our teaching faculty, which include GSN-LMU and guest lecturers from external institutions, believe that the overwhelming complexity of the human brain can only be explained by applying different approaches and methods of the disciplines in neuroscience.

The Master program at the Graduate School of Systemic Neurosciences continues to work on educating a new generation of neuroscientists. With an excellent understanding spanning from molecular, cellular and systemic principles of neurobiology to computational neuroscience aspects, our students acquire a deeper knowledge of neuron-neuron interaction, the dynamics of neuron-glia interaction, rules of information transfer in simple and complex circuits of single brain centers, interaction of different brain centers, and the function of the human brain.

MSc with two academic tracks

GSN-LMU students can choose courses along either a Systemic-Cellular-Molecular Neuroscience track or a Computational Neuroscience track. Regardless of the selected track, all students will also complete coursework within the other area, however, at a less intensive level.

The tuition-free program was initiated with the support of Elite Network of Bavaria (ENB) in 2007 – a funding initiative by the state of Bavaria to promote new and innovative teaching programs, designed according to the Bologna principles, for highly qualified students at top facilities.

Application start: December 1st, 2022

Closing date: February 15th, 2023
