Description:
The Intramural Program of the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) is a major research component of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). Within this program, the Section on Synapse Development Plasticity (chief: Zheng Li, PhD, https://www.nimh.nih.gov/research/research-conducted-at-nimh/principal-investigators/zheng-li.shtml) uses molecular and cellular biology, in vivo two-photon microscopy, and in vivo and ex vivo electrophysiology to study synaptic plasticity, mitochondria, and neural circuits in the context of brain development and psychiatric disorders, such as schizophrenia and mood disorders. Dr. Li’s publication can be found at https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/myncbi/zheng.li.7/bibliography/public/.
The Li lab is recruiting a Postdoctoral Fellow. This is a full-time research position located at the 300 acre Bethesda campus of the NIH, near Washington D.C. This position requires a graduate degree (or foreign equivalent) in neuroscience, developmental biology or cell biology. Research experience in molecular and cellular neuroscience, in vivo two-photon imaging, and electrophysiology is desired. For qualified candidates there are excellent opportunities to pursue research interests in the molecular, cellular and physiological mechanisms of psychiatric diseases using a combination of experimental approaches. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and accomplishments. Send letter of interest, CV, and three references to Dr. Zheng Li (lizheng2@mail.nih.gov).
