Job ID: 97808
Two years position at CEA-Clinatec, to evaluate photobiomodulation treatment benefit in Huntington mice models
Position: Post-doctoral Position
Deadline: 1 December 2022
Employment Start Date: 1 March 2022
Contract Length: 2 years; possibility of an additional one
City: Grenoble
Country: France
Institution: CEA
Department: Leti /Clinatec
Description:
CLINATEC is a Biomedical Research Center dedicated to the applications of technologies for health, piloted by the CEA-LETI in Grenoble in partnership with the CHU of Grenoble. CLINATEC has the particularity of bringing together engineers, biologists and clinicians in one place to optimize the transfer of innovative solutions to patients, in partnership with manufacturers.
In this context, the mission of CLINATEC is in particular:
to meet a medical need for the development of innovative diagnostic or therapeutic devices, particularly in the field of neurodegenerative diseases.
Contribute to the development of new tools/devices and methods based on advances in the field of micro and nanotechnologies.
Preclinical and clinical proof of concept of these new tools/devices and methods.
Contribute to the industrial transfer of tools/devices and methods validated according to the regulations in force for wide dissemination among patients.
The candidate will work in Clinatec’s Translational Biology laboratory. This laboratory’s mission is to participate in the design, development and biological validation of innovative diagnostic and therapeutic approaches.
The candidate will bring his expertise in histology, cellular and molecular biology, and behavioral studies in rodents.
Main mission
One of Clinatec’s main areas of research is the study of the neuroprotective properties of light, or photobiomodulation, in particular for neurodegenerative diseases. Clinatec has been working on this thopic for more than 10 years, and has already demonstrated on various preclinical models the benefit of intracerebral light treatment to slow down Parkinson’s disease. A clinical trial is currently underway at Clinatec to evaluate this approach in patients.
Clinatec wishes to broaden the application of photobiomodulation to Huntington’s disease. This project, funded by the French Agency of Research (ANR), aims to assess in rodent models of Huntington’s disease whether photobiomodulation slows down the development of the pathology. The candidate will bring his expertise to the behavioral, biological and histological characterization of these models treated or not by photobiomodulation.
Postdoctoral position candidate profile
The candidate must have a PhD in Biology/Neurosciences, as well as a level 1 in animal experimentation. Scientific and technical expertise in histology (including nervous tissue), in behavioral studies in rodents (including brain pathologies), and a good knowledge of cellular and molecular biology techniques are required. Rodent surgery ability and knowledge of rodent models of Huntington’s disease is an advantage. The candidate must be comfortable in a multidisciplinary environment, autonomous, able to develop new analysis techniques and to conduct in parallel several experiments related to the different work packages of the program.
Application deadline : First December 2022
