Description:
A post-doctoral position in Neuroscience is available in the group of Prof. Jean-Yves Chatton starting January 2023. We are interested in brain metabolism with our research projects centered on neuronal activity-glial cells coupling. We are currently investigating the impact of these interactions in neurodegenerative diseases and epilepsy. The offered project will focus on mitochondria in astrocytes and mitochondrial uncoupling aiming at characterizing their role in these pathologies and in aging.
Your responsibilities
The successful candidate will work in an interdisciplinary environment. The lab makes extensive use of electrophysiology and dynamic cellular imaging techniques (wide-field, one- and two-photon confocal fluorescence microscopy) applied to acute brain slices and primary cell studies. The candidates will also be required to apply molecular biology approaches, stereotaxic viral vector injections and immunofluorescence. Projects will include the optimization of imaging and optogenetic tools.
Your qualifications
Applicants should hold a PhD with a neuroscience background and have experience with in vitro, ex vivo or in vivo rodent brain research.
–> The candidate is expected to have previous experience in ex vivo brain slices electrophysiology, channel biophysics, stereotaxic injections, and optogenetics; fluorescence imaging is a plus.
