Description:
The NMI is a member of the Innovation Alliance Baden-Württemberg. It is involved in application-oriented research at the interface between the life sciences and material science. An interdisciplinary team of scientists is developing new technologies for companies and public research sponsors in the areas of Pharma and Biotech, Biomedicine and Materials Science, and Material Analysis and Electron Microscopy.
The Molecular Neuroscience team performs research in cooperation with academic, clinical and industrial partners. The group is engaged in the translation of basic research results into industrial application in the field of CNS diseases. Development of novel disease models for drug development comprise an important research focus. To strengthen our team we are looking for a scientist in a shared group leading position (m/f/d) – tenure track model (current holder of the position Prof. Dr. Hansjürgen Volkmer).
Your tasks
- Scientific, organizational and disciplinary management of the group (Post-Docs, Ph.D. students, technicians) together with the co-group leader
- Acquisition of research and development projects (publically funded projects as well as industrial projects)
- Planning and conducting of research and development projects
- Project management – overview on various projects at the same time in terms of experimental planning, timelines, milestones and reporting and communication with clients, partners and sponsors
Requirements
- Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry, Biology, Molecular Biotechnology or related disciplines with a strong background in Neuroscience, experience in Neuroimmunology is an advantage
- Strong record in molecular and cell biology, especially in the field of induced pluripotent stem cells
- Management skills – we encourage and support the development of management skills
- Experience to attract public funding research as well as from industrial sponsors
- Experience in supervising Ph.D. students, Post-Docs and Technicians
- Strong attitude to strategic development of the group
- Open minded and highly communicative
- Interact with external academic and industrial networks as well as with internal partners in an interdisciplinary environment
- Excellent team spirit, strong presentation and communication skills
- Fluency in English and German
