The German Primate Center (DPZ) – Leibniz Institute for Primate Research is one of 96 research and infrastructure establishments of the Leibniz Association. It conducts basic biological and biomedical research in all fields in which non-human primates play essential roles: particularly in infection research, neurosciences, and organismic primate biology. The Social Neurobiology Lab at the German Primate Center (DPZ) is hiring a:

 

PhD student (f/m/d)

 

The Social Neurobiology Lab is a Junior Research Group funded by the European Research Council led by Raymundo Baez-Mendoza, Ph.D. We investigate the neuronal basis of social connection in humans and non-human primates. To this end, we use behavioral testing and measurements and electrophysiological recordings and perturbations. The goal of the project is to investigate the neuronal mechanisms of group cooperation and the maintenance of social ties in both marmosets and humans. The position is available immediately (salary according to 65% TV-L E13) with an initial appointment for 2 years. Contract extensions are possible. The successful candidate will join a graduate school on the Göttingen Campus.

The Ph.D. student should have a degree (M.Sc. or equivalent), a passion for social interactions and their neuronal basis, as well as strong quantitative and experimental skills. Prior experience with electrophysiology is an asset but not essential.

The appointment at DPZ follows the regulations of civil service. The classification follows the TV-L and the position has a VBL pension provision.
