Country: Germany

Institution: Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg

Department: Institute for Pharmacology and Toxicology

Description:

The Faculty of Medicine is an integral part of the Otto-von-Guericke-University Magdeburg and cooperates with the Magdeburg University Hospital A.ö.R. in research, teaching and patient care. The latest findings in medical research and state-of-the-art equipment are used in diagnostic procedures and patient care. The main research foci of the faculty are “Immunology” including “Molecular Medicine of Inflammation” and “Neurosciences”.

The Institute for Pharmacology and Toxicology, Otto-von Guericke University Magdeburg, Germany, is seeking a highly motivated postdoc candidate (f/m/d) to join a project investigating the neuropharmacological and molecular basis of cognitive flexibility in mice. The project is part of the SFB 1436 “Neural Resources of Cognition” (PIs: Daniela Dieterich and Markus Fendt). For further information about the project and the SFB, please visit: https://sfb1436.de/projects/the-nmda-receptor-complex-a-signalling-hub-at-the-origin-of-cognitive-flexibility/ or contact markus.fendt@med.ovgu.de

The successful candidate should have strong interest in the molecular basis of cognition and cognitive flexibility, and a solid and practical background in neurobiology. Experience in behavioral neuroscience (animal models of cognition & cognitive flexibility) and/or molecular neuroscience (signaling pathways analysis), preferably documented by publications, is requirement for application consideration. In addition, experience in mentoring students and a course certificate in laboratory animal science (function A or FELASA B) is a plus. Fluency in English and the ability to work in an international environment are required.
