Description:

We are looking for a highly motivated Postdoc interested in Molecular/Cellular Neuroscience. The position is fully funded for 3 years and available as soon as possible.

Project: The offered position is an extension of ongoing projects regarding the effect of 3D chromatin organization in forebrain neurons on learning and resilience to stress in mice and humans. To address this issue, we will combine animal behavioural experiments with various state-of-the-art multi-omic analyses of neuronal chromatin. More information on the project is available on request.

Environment: You will join a multidisciplinary team of scientists. The Institute for Neuroscience at the Medical University of Innsbruck (https://www.i-med.ac.at/ge_nw/) provides a high-quality scientific and technological environment including high-performance computing infrastructure. We have access to state-of-the-art research platforms including omics, animal behaviour and imaging. The project will involve close collaboration with renowned international scientists.

Candidates: We are looking for an organized and independent scientist holding a PhD in a relevant field and willing to join a novel and challenging research area. Applicants are expected to have a strong background and proven track record in cell biology or molecular neuroscience. A documented valid course in animal experimental procedures is also required. Experience in working with NGS approaches, microsurgeries in adult mice and in FACS sorting will be valuable. Expertise in sequencing data analysis would be a benefit. English proficiency is mandatory (German is a plus). Strong communication skills, team spirit and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team are expected.
