A Postdoctoral Position is available in the Jordt laboratory at Duke University School of Medicine for a highly motivated individual with a strong interest in interdisciplinary approaches to study chemosensory mechanisms and their role in pain, irritation, pulmonary and cutaneous inflammation and chemical injury. Candidates should have a strong enthusiasm for working with animal models and a solid background in general pharmacological, toxicological, biochemical, molecular biological or physiological methods. Previous experience with animal research in small or large animal species, in pulmonary physiology, lung or cutaneous injury models or pain models is a plus. The position is supported by grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

Depending on projects and preferences, training will be provided in fluorescent imaging approaches, electrophysiology, pharmacological studies of irritant and thermosensory receptors, video- and machine-learning supported behavioral studies in mice, analysis of ventilatory physiology, pulmonary inflammation, toxicological studies on stem-cell derived organoids, primary and permanent cell lines and receptor-deficient mouse strains.
