Job ID: 86386
Postdoctoral position in the Neuronal Signal Integration Laboratory at UCI
Position: Post-doctoral Position
Deadline: 30 September 2022
City: IRVINE
Country: United States
Institution: University of California, Irvine
Department: Neurobiology and Behavior
Description:
A postdoctoral position, focusing on the cellular and circuit mechanisms of stress-induced impairment of cognitive functions, is open in the Neuronal Signal Integration Laboratory in the Department of Neurobiology and Behavior at UC Irvine, California.
The group applies state of the art optical techniques (optogenetics and multi-photon imaging) in behaving animals, complemented by slice physiology and computational modelling, to interrogate neural circuits. Our primary goal is to understand how anatomical and physiological changes of neural circuits effect cognitive performance (see http://faculty.sites.uci.edu/lurlab/ for more information).
The successful candidate will spearhead a research effort to study the effect of chronic stress on the fundamental architecture of cognitive circuits. Employment is conditional on a PhD in neuroscience or related field (biological sciences, physics, computer science) by the time the position is started. A strong candidate will have demonstrated (first author publications, GitHub repositories, etc.) experience with microscopy and imaging, rodent behavior, electrophysiology, surgical techniques, programming (python, MATLAB), and data analysis. Applicants should send their CV, a personal or research statement, and the contact information of 3 academic references to glur@uci.edu.
Salary and benefits will follow NIH and UC guidelines. Applications from women and underrepresented minorities are encouraged, the selection process will be purely merit based.
