Postdoctoral Fellow (m/w/d) – Fries Lab
Position: Post-doctoral Position
Deadline: 15 September 2022
Contract Length: The position is for three years initially, with the possibility of extension.
City: Frankfurt am Main
Country: Germany
Institution: Ernst Strüngmann Institute (ESI) gGmbH for Neuroscience in Cooperation with Max Planck Society
Department: Fries Department
Description:
The Fries Lab is looking for an enthusiastic postdoctoral fellow who is interested in in studying the functional roles of brain rhythms and their synchronization in awake behaving marmosets.
Your tasks:
Behavior and the underlying cognitive functions rely on the dynamic communication between brain areas, a central topic of the lab (e.g. Bastos et al., Neuron, 2015; Rohenkohl et al., Neuron, 2018; Vezoli et al., Neuron, 2021). The postdoc will study this using electrophysiological recordings, potentially combined with functional Ultrasound (fUSI) and/or optogenetic stimulation. The postdoc will be able to use an outstanding infrastructure, and will join an existing international team with expertise in non-human primate research, including marmosets (Jendritza et al., eNeuro, 2021; Jendritza et al., bioRxiv, 2021).
What you have to offer:
Candidates should have or expect a Ph.D. in neuroscience or a neuroscience-related discipline. Experience with in-vivo electrophysiology is a plus, and the candidate should have an interest in developing and/or applying new technology for neuroscience. Yet, the main criteria are a strong academic track record and a dedication to perform excellent brain research. Applications should include a motivation letter, a curriculum vitae, copies of university degrees, lists of university courses with obtained grades, and the names and e-mail addresses of two scientists who can provide references (do not include reference letters). Please send your application materials, with the reference “Marmoset”, in electronic format (ideally in one PDF file) to office.fries(at)esi-frankfurt.de
What we offer:
The position is for three years initially, with the possibility of extension, and can start at any time in 2022 or 2023. This call will remain open until 15 September 2022. The salary will be as for a classical postdoctoral position. Equal opportunities and diversity are important to us. All candidates are equally welcome and encouraged to apply.
