Description:

The Brainlab – Cognitive Neuroscience Research Group (University of Barcelona) invites applications for a 3+1 year PhD contract commencing in spring/fall 2023. 

 

The PhD thesis will be carried out within the research line of cerebellum and auditory-motor interaction. 

Principal Investigator: Dr. Jordi Costa-Faidella 

 

The student will join the recently awarded project Involvement of the cerebellum in sound pitch perception and production, financed by the Spanish Ministry of Science, to investigate cerebellar electrophysiological dynamics during pitch perception and production, using EEG and state-of-the-art source reconstruction methods in healthy volunteers and patients suffering from spinocerebellar ataxia type 3 (SCA3; Machado-Joseph disease). 

We are seeking a talented and highly motivated graduate in any field related to Neuroscience (Psychology, Cognitive Sciences, Computer Sciences, Medicine, Biology, Engineering, Physics), willing to work hard and travel across the world as part of their training. 

 

Requirements: 1) EU citizenship, 2) 300 ECTS completed (at least 60 ECTS in a Master degree) by mid 2023, 3) computer skills (Matlab, Python), 4) high academic marks, 5) experience in EEG (oscillatory dynamics; source reconstruction) is a plus. 

 

The successful candidate will join the PhD Program in Biomedicine (area of Neuroscience), and will be fully integrated in the scientific activities of the Brainlab and the María de Maeztu Unit of Excellence Institute of Neurosciences at the University of Barcelona.
