Description:

Our Research focus:

https://ki.se/en/mtc/schlisio-lab-research-focus

Cancer risk increase with age because cancer is viewed as a multistep process involving mutation and selection for cells with progressively increasing capacity for proliferation, survival, invasion, and metastasis.
But why does childhood cancer exist if cancer is a multi-step progression requiring long period of time to develop?

Our lab focusses on childhood neuroblastoma:
We explore the cellular origin of pediatric nervous system cancer, its developmental roots, and how it is linked to embryogenesis. Understanding how the sympathetic nervous system is shaped during development will give us important clues how neuroblastoma arises and what are the driving forces of its remarkable heterogeneity and phenotypic plasticity.

(1)

We are seeking a motivated, creative post-doctoral candidate interested in tumor mouse models

arising from the sympatho-adrenal lineage, such as neuroblastoma and pheochromocytoma, with

the aim to understand the molecular principles of these tumors at a previously unprecedented

level.

(2)

Furthermore, we are looking for motivated, creative post-doctoral candidates interested in cancer metabolism with knowledge in basic biochemistry and molecular biology. We currently defning how oxygen sensing regulates mitochondrial dynamics and mass.

In addition, we are looking for one outstanding researcher to work on the computational analyses of a large-scale single-cell transcriptome project on neuroblastoma. In this project we will generate “molecular encyclopedias” of this tumor in order to understand the molecular principles concerning the origin, progression and subtypes of this tumor at a previously unprecedented level, using state-of-the-art RNA-seq and bioinformatics technologies. Therefore, we seek one postdoctoral research fellow with expertise in computational analyses of RNA-seq data and OMICS data.
