Position: Post-doctoral Position
Deadline: 15 August 2022
Employment Start Date: 17 October 2022
Contract Length: 3 years
City: Liège
Country: Belgium
Institution: Univeristy of Liège
Department: GIGA Neurosciences
Description:
Post-doctoral fellowship in the research group in Behavioral Neuroendocrinology led by Dr Charlotte Cornil at GIGA Neurosciences, University of Liège, Belgium
Post-doctoral fellow (m/f)
Full-time (38 hours/week)
Description of the project
Our research aims at elucidating the contribution of neuroestrogens to brain function focusing on social behaviors. The main goal of this specific project is to unravel how neurons expressing aromatase, the enzyme responsible for estrogen synthesis, integrate in the circuits that control sexual behavior in males and females and how specific populations of aromatase neurons contribute to the regulation of these behaviors both in the short and long term. The project will combine stereotaxic injection of aromatase inhibitors or cre-dependent viruses, opto-/chemo-genetics, in vivo photometry and different transgenic mouse lines.

Appointement : 3 years
Starting date : As soon as possible
Requirements: We are seeking for a motivated candidate with a strong background in behavioral neuroscience/neuroendocrinology and experience with one or more of the following techniques: mouse behavior/genetics, stereotaxic surgery, genetically guided tract tracing, and opto/chemo-genetics. The candidate should hold a PhD in neurosciences or psychology for less than 5 years. The candidate should able to work both independently and as part of a team. The successful candidate will possess a strong track record of publication in top neuroscience/endocrinology journals. Importantly, the candidate should be in a situation of international mobility (having worked less than 24 months in Belgium before starting in the lab).
Context: Our team is part of the GIGA Neurosciences, a division of GIGA-research, a major research center in biotechnology where virtually any cutting edge technique applicable to life sciences is available and implemented.
Applications including CV with names of two references and a statement of research interests should be sent to charlotte.cornil@uliege.be
