Description:

The laboratory of Dr. Martin Parent is seeking highly motivated students with a university degree to undertake a PhD program in Neuroscience at Université Laval. Applicants with a BSc degree may first enter a MSc Program toward a direct transfer to PhD after one year. The laboratory of Dr. Martin Parent located at the CERVO Brain Research Centre in Quebec City investigates the anatomical and functional organization of the basal ganglia, a set of subcortical structures involved in motor behavior, in rodents, human and non-human primates. The proposed research projects aim at characterizing alterations of neuronal circuits that occur in Parkinson’s disease using animal models and post-mortem human brains, and those that characterize long-term pharmacological and neurosurgical treatments.
