Description:

The Manahan-Vaughan lab hosts a vibrant and talented team of neuroscientists from a variety of scientific backgrounds that implement multidisciplinary approaches to understanding the mechanisms underlying memory. A postdoctoral position is currently available for a candidate that has a strong interest in the area of in vivo electrophysiological recordings in conjunction with optogenetics of the rodent brain.  Focus will be on research of cortical and subcortical dialog with the hippocampus during learning. The position will be funded at the level of E13 (german salary system), with the possibility of extensions. Teaching neurophysiology within the Medical Curriculum of the Ruhr University is supported and encouraged. Experience with  in vivo electrophysiology in behaving rodents is required. Other facets: degree in neuroscience, or related area; competence in data analysis and Matlab; experience in stereotaxic electrode implantation; research track record in this area; team-spirit and creativity.
