Are you interested in studying the role of extracellular matrix in ageing?
Alterations of the extracellular matrix (ECM) components during pathophysiological conditions in the central nervous system (CNS) can have significant consequences on the behaviour of neurons and glia. The aim of the project is to study the functional roles of the ECM, particularly chondroitin sulphate proteoglycans (CSPGs) molecules, in memory retention and ageing. We shall use biochemical methods, behavioural tests and viral technology in modulating the brain ECM.
Requirements
The successful applicant should have an education in biochemistry, biology or medical science and have a good proficiency in English. Experience with biochemistry, animal work and surgery, and is advantageous. The successful applicant will also have excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills and be highly-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of the international team of NeuroRecon Centre.
Terms and place of employment
This position is available at the Institute of Experimental Medicine of the ASCR, v.v.i.) in Prague, Czech Republic. The Centre hosts an international collaborative research program between Institute of Experimental Medicine (Prague, CR) – Faculty of Biological Sciences (University of Leeds). The position is available immediately as an initial fixed-term contract, with longer-term extension possible upon demonstrated proficiency.
