The Intramural Program of the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) is a major research component of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). Within this program, the Section on Synapse Development Plasticity (Chief: Zheng Li, PhD, https://www.nimh.nih.gov/research/research-conducted-at-nimh/principal-investigators/zheng-li.shtml; publications:https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/myncbi/zheng.li.7/bibliography/public/) uses molecular and cellular biology, two-photon microscopy, and electrophysiology to investigate the mechanisms by which mitochondria and psychedelics influence synaptic function and behavior. The Li lab is recruiting a Postdoctoral Fellow. This is a full-time research position located at the 300 acre Bethesda campus of the NIH, near Washington D.C. This position requires a graduate degree (or foreign equivalent) in neuroscience, developmental biology or cell biology. Research experience in in vivo two-photon imaging, in vivo or ex vivo electrophysiology, brain surgery, and mouse behavior is desired.
