Description:

A postdoc position is available at the Chair of Zoology, Technical University of Munich to study midbrain mechanisms for sensory computation in chicken. The project will involve the application of advanced electrophysiological recording techniques (multielectrode systems), sensory stimulation with both natural and virtual stimuli, behavioral training, and behavioral analysis. We are interested in understanding the dynamics of sensory representation upon self-generated motor behavior in the midbrain, a major sensory-motor hub with a central role in attentional processes.

 

Your profile

A strong interest in neurobiology and affinity to advanced neurophysiological recording technology are prerequisites. Eligible candidates should be good team players, highly motivated and eager to work independently and interdisciplinary. Solid English skills, both written and spoken are required. The ability to teach in German would be helpful. We are expecting an above-average Master/PhD degree in a field related to biological or biomedical sciences.

We offer

A postdoc position (according to TV-L 13) at the Technical University Munich (TUM), starting date possible from January 1st, 2023 on. The position is funded for 3 years, with a possible extension for further 3 years. The option to pursue a Habilitation is given. Teaching obligation is at 5 weekly hours during the semester; professional training programs for teaching are provided by the TUM. We are offering a position in a diverse team working on different animal model systems, and can provide excellent working conditions.

Our lab is located on the Life Sciences Campus of the TUM in Freising/Weihenstephan, close to the vibrant research community in Munich.
