Description:

Studying the molecular plasticity of inhibitory synapses using single molecule super-resolution microscopy: GABA and glycine receptor diffusion trapping and competition for synaptic binding sites.

We are looking for a motivated postdoc to join our team, investigating the ultrastructure and dynamics of GABAergic and glycinergic synapses using state-of-the-art imaging approaches based on single molecule localization microscopy (SMLM). This ANR-funded project explores the competition between different receptor subtypes, which is thought to underlie the regulation of inhibitory synaptic strength as well as compensatory mechanisms during pathological conditions such as hyperekplexia.

The project will make use of a range of advanced imaging techniques, meaning that some experience with fluorescence microscopy is necessary. Other useful skills are image analysis, neuronal cell culture, molecular biology and biophysics. Applications from young researchers who are eligible for EU-funded postdoctoral programmes (international or European postdoctoral fellowship) are particularly welcome. The position is for 12 months in the first instance.
