Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and Down’s syndrome (DS) are among the most pressing public health concerns of this century due to the aging population and absence of effective treatments that are able to reduce cognitive decline. We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher to join our team in order to investigate basal forebrain circuit dynamics and functional connectivity in DS, and comorbid AD. We employ a variety of methodologies, including behavioral, electrophysiological, optogenetic, and histological techniques. The research team is headed by Professor Gregor Rainer at the University of Fribourg, https://www.unifr.ch/med/de/research/groups/rainer/. The laboratory features state of the art equipment, and a highly motivated team of researchers from around the world. We offer an environment where researchers are encouraged to develop their own questions, and design and conduct experiments that effectively address them. The successful candidate will be curious, have a strong background in neuroscience, be capable of performing data analysis using MATLAB, R, or python, and have at least one first author, peer reviewed publication.
