The Reward and Aversion Lab has several open positions supported by an ERC Consolidator Grant.
Position ID – RewAve_4
The post-doctoral fellow will characterize the patterns of neuronal activity in response to a positive or a negative stimulus. The researcher will evaluate neuronal activity in different brain regions using multichannel silicon probes in freely behaving animals. In addition, the researcher will also perform selective optogenetic manipulation during behavior.

Initial appointment is for 1 year up to 4 years. The candidate will have the opportunity to work in a stimulating environment and with a strong network of outstanding collaborators.

Starting date is negotiable.

The Lab
In The Reward and Aversion Lab are interested in understanding how our brain encodes reward and aversion, and how this information is conveyed into motivated behaviors.
We have a collaborative and open lab environment, and diversity is welcome. Our lab is located in a dynamic biomedical institute, at University of Minho, in Braga (north of Portugal), a vibrant region with excellent food, wine and friendly people.

Candidate profile
We are especially interested in applicants with experience in rodent behavioral evaluation and electrophysiological recordings in freely behaving animals. Experience with silicon probes is a plus. Good programming skills and experience in Python and/or MATLAB is a plus.
