The Reward and Aversion Lab has several open positions supported by an ERC Consolidator Grant. We have a collaborative and open lab environment, and we are looking for passionate, motivated and talented post-doctoral researchers with a positive attitude. Diversity is welcome.
We are interested in understanding how our brain encodes reward and aversion, and how this information is conveyed into motivated behaviors. We are focused in the nucleus accumbens circuitry, a key hub in rewarding/aversive learning and in motivation. We use a multidisciplinary approach including anatomical characterization, molecular profiling, behavioral evaluation, optogenetics, electrophysiology, pharmacology and live imaging with genetically-encoded sensors.
Research experience in any of the following areas is a plus:
– Electrophysiological recordings in freely behaving animals
– Calcium or other sensors live imaging
– Optogenetics, chemogenetics
– Single cell RNAseq
– Computational proficiency
Post-doctoral contracts are available up to 4,5 years, starting date can be adjusted with the candidate. The work will be developed at University of Minho, Located in Braga in the north of Portugal, a vibrant region with excellent food, wine and friendly people.
