Engel) at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE) aims to fill a postdoc position for in-vivo neurophysiology. The vacant position is for a project involving modulation of cortical networks by opto- and chemogenetic approaches. The full-time position is initially limited to 3 years, with the possibility of extension, and can start any time from May 2021. The salary level will be E13 according to TVöD/VKA.
The new lab member will join an existing team in the Engel lab with extensive expertise in in-vivo multisite recordings, connectivity analysis and network modulation using electrical and optogenetic stimulation approaches. The main focus of the work will be on opto- and chemogenetic modulation of oscillations and functional connectivity in cortical networks in anesthetized and behaving ferrets. The selected candidate will become a member of the Collaborative Research Center 936 ( which offers rich possibilities for cooperation and training in the field of network neuroscience.
Candidates should have or expect a Ph.D. in neuroscience, biology or related disciplines, and strong experimental and analytical skills. Applications of candidates holding an M.D. are also welcome. Experience in in-vivo recordings and optogenetic approaches is a plus.
