The Sensory Physiology group at OVGU Magdeburg, led by Kristine Krug, investigates the neural basis of perceptual decision-making in primates. We research the relationship between neurons, circuits and behaviour in Rhesus monkeys and humans, with methods including cellular neurophysiology, high field magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and cutting-edge brain intervention methods.
We seek a research assistant/technical assistant for computer controlled, magnetic resonance experiments with non-human primates funded by the European Social Fund (ESF) / IB Sachsen-Anhalt. You will be involved in setting up magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) imaging experiments in primates and in their validation with simultaneous neurophysiology.
You will work as part of a team by contributing to the preparation conduct and analysis of experiments, the coordination of laboratory tasks, and the archiving and analysis of data. Training will be provided as required.
Requirements for the position:
completed training as a medical-technical assistant or a bachelor degree in a science-related field, especially Neuroscience, Biology, Physics
experience with magnetic resonance experiments and data, in the area of animal experimentation and you are motivated to learn new techniques
prior experience with non-human primates would be an advantage
experience in MRI data analysis
you are able to work independently as well as part of a team, have organizational talent, social competence and communicate well with others
because our group is international, you should have very good communication skills in English
