Research Assistant – half time in Sheffield/UK

Position: Research Assistant

Deadline: 23 March 2021

Contract Length: 24 months

City: Sheffield

Country: United Kingdom

Institution: University of Sheffield

Department: Psychology

There is an exciting opportunity within the Department of Psychology to provide specialist research support based around a project entitled “Can a dysfunction of the basal ganglia and related low level nociceptive network underlie some central neuropathic pain symptoms in Parkinson’s disease?” – a translational neuroscience project linking researchers in Sheffield and France. The University of Sheffield is a world leader in neuroscience research, supported by a cross faculty Neuroscience Institute. On a day to day basis, this role will require providing preclinical surgical support (using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) at 7T in a small-bore magnet facility), assisting with data collection, storage and analysis – and a lead role in writing up the research and disseminating the results. If you have a good honours degree in a relevant subject, a PhD (or are close to completing a PhD, or have equivalent experience) in a relevant subject, and possess preclinical surgical skills, then we’d be keen to hear from you.

The post is funded from April 1st 2021 and we are keen to have a start date as close to that as possible.
