Contract Length: 2+2 years

Department: Neuromodulation of Cortical and Subcortical Circuits Lab

Description:

Postdoctoral position in Circuit Neuroscience

Research activity in the Neuromodulation of Cortical and Subcortical Circuits Lab aims to resolve the spatiotemporal dynamic of behaviorally relevant neuromodulatory signals at circuit and system level resolution.

We are seeking highly motivated candidate to explore how neuromodulatory signals shapes the interaction between brain circuits for perception and reward, in both health and diseased state. In the framework of a collaborative and multidisciplinary project, the successful candidate will investigate large-scale neuronal activity by applying in-vivo neuronal imaging (microendoscopy and fiber photometry) combined with behavioral analysis, together with the latest optogenetic and chemogenetic approaches to deconstruct and manipulate neuronal circuits both ex-vivo and in-vivo. For references see Cavaccini et al., Neuron, 2018; Albeiro et al., Nature Methods, 2018; Boender et al., Biological Psychiatric, 2020.

Expertise in in-vivo neurophysiological techniques is an important prerequisite together with quantitative background and signal processing knowledge appropriate for the analysis of neuronal activity (use of Phyton or MATLAB). Previous experience in in-vivo imaging will be highly valued.

Applications, including detailed curriculum vitae and name and contacts of 2 referees, to be submitted in a PDF format to raffaella.tonini@iit.it.
