A Technician position in Biology is available in the Cellular Neurobiology group led by Prof. Jacob at the Institute of Developmental Biology and Neurobiology.

The functions of the successful candidate will be the following:
1/Management of and responsibility for mouse strain collection and genotyping, separation of new progeny, handling of mice (after appropriate education that will be provided at the University of Mainz), recording of animals in online database, 2/Preparation of and handling of cell cultures (primary neural cells and cell lines), 3/Application of various biochemical, cell biological, and histological methods, 4/Application of basic techniques of molecular biology, 5/Preparation of reagents for practical courses, 6/Laboratory management (maintenance of the laboratory and equipment; preparation of buffers, washing and autoclaving of laboratory equipment, ordering of laboratory supplies, ensuring industrial hygiene in the laboratory).

Your profile:
Completed vocational training as a biological technical assistant or as a laboratory technician with equivalent skills and experience, good knowledge in the above mentioned techniques (or willingness to learn them), in MS-Office and of English, good communication and organization skills. Relevant professional experience is an advantage but not a requirement.

Also expected are: High motivation to participate in the scientific work of the laboratory and the desire to learn new techniques, willingness to communicate in English on a daily basis, ability to work independently, including the independent development of new laboratory methods, participation in seminars and lab meetings, independent work organization and ability to work in a team.

The position can be filled as soon as possible by either one full-time or two part-time employees.
