Contract Length: One year

A Postdoctoral position (m/f/d) is available at the Institute of Experimental Epileptology and Cognitive Research at the University Hospital of Bonn.
The Tchumatchenko Group is seeking highly motivated postdoctoral candidates to conduct scientific research in the field of computational neuroscience.
The applicant will be involved in an exciting new project that entails collaborations with other renowned scientific institutes. The aim of the project is to research how neurons efficiently synthesise and distribute proteins in order to ensure that these are readily available and in the right places at the right time. This includes modelling dendritic mRNA transport systems, multi-synapse synaptic plasticity changes, and neuronal trafficking circuits. Combining theory framework with experimentally obtained data from other lab groups will help shed light on how neurons compute protein distribution mechanisms that result in the strengthening of synapses.
The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated, team-oriented postdoc with a strong interest in computational neuroscience and bioinformatics. Experience with computational modelling techniques, bioinformatics or animal experimentation is advantageous. Candidates should hold a PhD (or equivalent) in Neuroscience, Physics, Mathematics or a related discipline, as well as be enthusiastic about working in an international and interdisciplinary research team. Good communication skills and a strong command of the English language are essential.
The salary will be according to the German salary scale TV-L (EG 13, 100%) and the position starts at the earliest possible date and runs for a period of one year, with the possibility of an extension.
