Deadline: 1 May 2021

Contract Length: 4-5 years

City: Quebec City

Country: Canada

Institution: Université Laval

Department: CERVO Brain Research Center

Description:

PhD position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Armen Saghatelyan (https://www.saghatelyanlab.com/research) at the CERVO Brain Research Center (https://cervo.ulaval.ca ), Quebec City, Canada, to study molecular and cellular mechanisms controlling neuronal migration in the postnatal mammalian brain and how these mechanisms are affected in different neurodevelopmental disorders. We use multidisciplinary approaches combining live cell imaging of cell migration and intracellular organelles, CRISPR-Cas9 and transgenic mice to manipulate specific molecular pathways, and induced pluripotent cell (iPSC) technology that makes it possible to obtain neuronal progenitor cells (NPC) from patient-derived somatic cells affected by neurodevelopmental disorders.
