Post-doctoral position in Budapest/Hungary
Position: Post-doctoral Position
Deadline: 1 October 2021
Contract Length: 1 year with possible extension
Institution: Institute of Experimental Medicine
Department: Laboratory of Neuronal Signaling
The Laboratory of Neuronal Signaling, led by Dr. Judit Makara in the Institute of Experimental Medicine, Budapest, Hungary, invites applications for a postdoctoral fellow position. The lab studies synaptic integration, dendritic processing, input-output operations and single-cell and population activity of hippocampal neurons, with the goal to understand how cellular and circuit mechanisms allow the hippocampal network to perform various computations during navigation and learning. We employ diverse in vitro and in vivo experimental methodologies including patch clamp electrophysiology, two-photon imaging and optical stimulation techniques, combined with computational analysis in close collaboration with computational neuroscientists at the Institute. Further information on our research can be found at the lab website and in recent papers (Ujfalussy and Makara, 2020 Nat. Comm., Magó et al., 2020 J. Neurosci., Raus Balind et al. 2019 Nat. Comm, Weber et al. 2016 Nat. Comm., Andrásfalvy et al. 2014 Nat. Methods, Makara and Magee, 2013 Neuron).
Applicants are expected to have a Ph.D. in neuroscience or related field, and preferably have experience in electrophysiology and/or fluorescent microscopy techniques or engineering/programming skills. Outstanding candidates with expertise in other areas may also be considered. We are looking for motivated, creative and collaborative candidates with critical thinking and good work ethics.
The Institute of Experimental Medicine is a leading neuroscience center in Europe, equipped with state-of-the-art core facilities and providing a highly stimulating and collaborative research environment. The position is open immediately and is offered initially for one year with possibility of extension. Competitive salary is commensurate with skills and level of experience. Applications should include CV, short statement of motivation, and names and email addresses of at least two references.
