Description:

The search for mechanistically novel and more effective therapeutic options for depression is currently a research priority. We have identified that the synaptic plasticity protein Homer1a, as a modulator of glutamatergic signalling, is an important element for the antidepressant therapy. We aim to further characterize the role of glutamatergic and dopaminergic signaling in the mechanism of action of rapid antidepressant treatments and deep brain stimulation.

FELASA B certificate (or equivalent) is obligatory. Basic knowledge of MathLab analyses; different behavioural tests in mice and one or more of the following techniques: SDS-PAGE and western blot; qRT-PCR gene analyses will be an advantage.
Applications, in one single PDF-document, including a complete CV, publication list, letter of motivation (half page) with a brief statement of the previous research experience related to the field and scientific interests, copy of relevant certificates and names and contacts of two references should be sent electronically to tsvetan.serchov@uniklinik-freiburg.de (Dr. Tsvetan Serchov).
